Level 3 Diploma in Introduction to Childcare Practice - (Homebased/Childminding) Unit 1

The Introduction to Childcare Practice unit is part of the Diploma in Home-based childcare Level 3 (5 units).

 

The Introduction to Childcare Practice (Unit 1) is for practitioners who are new to home-based childcare; undertaking childminder registration; or wishing to gain approved home-based childcarer status.

 

Learner will learn about assessing the home for risks and about making it a safe and health environment for children.  You will learn how to plan the way you will work with children and how to make a good start in your relationship with the children's parents/ primary carer.  This unit also covers Child Protection issues and the regulatory governing home-based childcare.

 

To be registered as a registered child minder some people choose to only do Units 1 of this Diploma which gives them this achievement.

 

Duration: It lasts two days to complete just Unit 1 of the diploma. However, bear in mind it is not full diploma.

 

Qualification: Unit 1 Diploma Level 3 in Homebased Childcare

This course can be taken in a week and a multiple choice paper exam is taken at the end of the course.  With this qualification you can register with your local authority to become a registered childminder.

 Level 3 Diploma in Home-based Childcare (Full Diploma)

Diploma in Home-based Childcare is a five unit qualification aimed at home-based childcare practitioners and childminders.

 

This qualification outlines the necessary regulations and legislation governing home based childcare. 

 

Qualification:

 Learners must successfully complete all units to achieve the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Home-based Childcare.

  • Introduction to Childcare Practice (home-based)
  • Childcare and child development (0-16) in the home-based setting
  • The childcare practitioner in the home-based setting
  • Working in partnership with parents in the home-based setting
  • Planning to meet children's individual learning needs in the home-based setting

Duration:  The Diploma course is covered within 14 weeks one day a week and can be taken on Saturdays or 2 half days during the week.
